Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Farmers in Bihar and South Bengal have been facing difficulties due to deficient monsoon rains in June. However, the Meteorological Department assures them of respite as the monsoon is expected to make up for the slight deficiency in this month itself. The formation of low pressure in the northwest of the Bay of Bengal intensifies the possibility of rain, bringing potential relief to the drought-affected regions.
The weather is expected to change from today onwards, with the low pressure gradually moving northwestwards. Gangetic West Bengal is likely to experience good rain and thundershowers, with the possibility of increased rainfall on Sunday and Monday. Meanwhile, North Bengal's Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts may receive heavy to very heavy rains on Saturday.
While the meteorological predictions offer hope for improved rainfall, the department also warns of moderate to heavy rains in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Cooch Behar districts on the same day. Northern districts may experience light rain and thundershowers over North and South Dinajpur and Maldah districts.
With the anticipated shift in weather patterns, farmers and residents can look forward to a much-needed respite from the deficient monsoon and potential relief from the dry spell.
